India’s ODI Squad for Tour of South Africa Announced- Umesh, KL Rahul out Jadhav, Shardul in: India’s OD Squad for South Africa Tour have been announced about a month ahead of the ODI series with the purpose of giving more preparation time to the Players. 17-member squad has been selected out of which 10 members of the squad are top end batsman including Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni. Since it’s a six-match series so they have chosen Big squad of 17 members.  Suresh Raina recently passed Yo Yo test, but he didn’t get any favor from selectors.

Shreyas Iyer who performed very well in the recently concluded ODI Series against Sri Lanka has been able to sustain his place in the ODI squad along with Dinesh Kartik and Manish Pandey. Dinesh Kartik also provides Wicket-keeping batsman option incase Dhoni is not fit or he if he doesn’t want to keep wickets.

Indis’s Spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have again been ignored for the ODI series squad but they both are part of test series that is going to be played befoe ODI series. Another bowler who missed out on ODI series was Umesh Yadav who have conceded his place to Mohammad Shami who had a good Ranji Season. Kedhar Jadhav has also returned to the squad who was out because of the hamstring injury and selectors believe that he will be alright by that time. Players who found place in the list of pace bowlers which include Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur.

There is not much of a gap between one-day series and Test series as ODI series starts just four days after the Test series. First ODI is going to be played on February 1 in Durban and second ODI is going to played in Centurion on 4th of February.
